TOONE, Tenn. — Several West Tennessee schools are out for spring break this week. This year it just so happens to line up with Easter, and the timing is hurting a local business. It’s that time of year at Falcon Ridge Farm for their annual weeklong Easter egg hunt, but this year workers say because of spring break and recent rain, they’ve seen about half as many customers as usual. “We’ll go through 8 to 12 thousand eggs a year, and we usually try to hide about a thousand at a time,” farm operator Bart Gilmer said.” Falcon Ridge employees say they typically have about 300 customers a day. They had about half that Monday, but those who came out took advantage of the nice weather. “Well, we come out here every year to the Easter egg hunt, and we do the pumpkin patch in the fall,” visitor Candice Taylor said. “We love this farm. We do the CSA program in the summer too. We’ve been out here a lot.” There are hundreds of eggs hidden in the field just waiting for you to find them. “All the eggs will have a small prize in them,” Gilmer said. “They’ll either have candy, maybe a ring or a sicker or a popper, or a temporary tattoo or something like that.” A hayride starts the egg hunt, and it ends with a chance to meet the season’s guest of honor. “The Easter Bunny is also here, hops in and out daily, so you can have your picture made with the Easter Bunny free of charge.”

It costs $8.50 each for adults and kids and is free for those younger than 2 years old. Admission includes other fun things to do including a no-track train ride, petting zoo and corn pit. Falcon Ridge Farm is expecting between one and two thousand people to come out and hunt eggs this week. There are many free Easter events to keep your kids busy during their spring break week. On Friday, there’s an Easter egg hunt at the Adamsville Health and Rehabilitation Center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Just check out the Community Calendar on our website under the “community” tab on our homepage.
