HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Sheriff’s deputies said four burglaries in three weeks have 11 guns missing from Haywood County homes. The latest burglary happened off Highway 70 West in Stanton. According to deputies, thieves stole a shotgun, pistol and two hunting bows. Common factors between the burglaries including a kicked-in door to gain entry, stolen guns and electronics, plus the suspects appear to wait until the victim is gone for the day, leading officers to believe the suspect is most likely the same for all the break-ins. “They come in my house and I’ll blow them back off the front porch, so they better know,” said Christin Sharp, a 15-year-old friend and family member of victims of the recent sting of burglaries. Homeowners said the house was empty for only 15 minutes. “We are angry, and we are watching,” said Mayor Allan Sterbinsky of Stanton. “They need to think carefully before they do something like this again.” Neighbors said they have added cameras and loaded their guns in case they become the thieves’ next target.
