Lane College holds grand opening for Fitness Center

EAST JACKSON — Students, staff and faculty at Lane College now have a new exercise resource on campus. The college held a grand opening Wednesday afternoon for their new Fitness Center. The fitness center coordinator says students can now cancel their gym memberships and stay health on campus. “The students are very excited they couldn’t wait for it to be open the theme is ‘Let’s Go to Work’,” Melinda Richardson said. In a release, school officials said the quality of fitness centers are increasingly important features that students consider when selecting a college. Students say they’re happy to have a safe place on campus to exercise. “The last weight room we had was rusted our president has worked so hard to make this community better he’s even offering things to us such as this weight room and as you can see around us now kids are loving it,” Lane sophomore Michael Harris said. The Fitness Center currently is open only to Lane College faculty, staff and students.
