Union City man faces auto theft charge

UNION CITY, Tenn. — A Union City man is facing a charge of auto theft. According to a police report, the incident happened on Westgate Drive in Union City. The reports states Michael Thompson attempted to take another man’s vehicle. The victim told officers after he went inside a business, he saw Thompson move his SUV from its parking spot. That is when the victim rushed outside and jumped into the passenger’s seat, trying to stop Thompson, but not before hitting a tree. The victim then handcuffed Thompson and called police, who then took him into custody.
