Martin officials hold fundraiser for girl with cancer

MARTIN, Tenn. — A special fundraiser in Martin raises nearly $20,000 for a 21-month-old girl with brain cancer. The family says the Martin Police Department spearheaded the Saturday event that brought out nearly every business in the city to benefit Anna Kate Wenz. The Martin Fire Department even had runners in the 5K who ran in full response gear. A number of police departments, sheriff’s offices and fire departments contributed to the event. While Anna Kate couldn’t attend, those who were there say it was a great day for everyone involved.
