Local lawyer temporarily suspended from practice

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A local lawyer has been temporarily suspended after being found to have misappropriated funds. Marshall Scott Smith has been temporarily suspended as well as removed from disability inactive status, according to a release from the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. The release states that Smith’s law license was placed on disability inactive status on Oct. 7, 2014. Smith now must comply with the responsibilities of suspended attorneys as well as the procedure for reinstatement.
