Suspected shoplifter in custody after running across I-40

NORTH JACKSON — Police have a suspected shoplifter in custody after he fled and ran across Interstate 40, according to police. The suspect has been taken into custody on Carriage House Drive after allegedly stealing from Walmart on Emporium Drive and then running across I-40 on foot, according to Capt. Mike Landreth with the Jackson Police Department. The man ran about half a mile before being taken into custody. The call went out around 11 a.m.
