JACKSON, Tenn. — Registration for the Jackson-Madison County NAACP’s Freedom Fund Banquet is now open. Local NAACP president Harrell Carter said the annual banquet is the organization’s signature event. “Our purpose for this event is to raise the necessary funds in order to do the work of justice and equality for all,” Carter said. “We have various issues on the table, from education to health care disparity as well as the criminal justice system in and of itself.” The theme for the 52nd annual banquet is “reaffirming justice and equality for all.” The banquet also will honor individuals from the community and the armed forces. “We’re very proud of our volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to make sure justice and equality for all is the norm — not the exception to the rule,” Carter said. The event will begin with an invite-only VIP reception at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, May 24. For information on purchasing tables, sponsorship or tickets, call Virginia Stackens Crump at 901-833-0834.
