TRENTON, Tenn. — Thousands line the streets of Trenton for the 35th annual Teapot Festival parade Saturday morning. Locals know this week as a holiday where thousands travel from across the country to celebrate the annual Trenton Teapot Festival. “If you can look up the street, it’s all 10 city blocks full of people. It’s just an outstanding day, couldn’t ask for a better day it’s our 35th year cheers to 35 years and it’s just a wonderful day and a wonderful parade for the city of Trenton,” Mayor Ricky Jackson said. Mayor Jackson said when it started 35 years ago it was only a walk. Now it’s a week long celebration and parade. “it’s a whole week of something to do, something to eat, something to go to — the bands, the music,” Jackson said. Some in attendance have been coming since the inaugural festival. “We just come because we like to see the floats and what have you and see the people,” longtime Trenton resident Charles Hill said. Others were there for the first time. “He’s having fun looking at all the firetrucks and all the lights and sounds that come from them, and we’re looking forward to the bands that are going to march through and listening to their music,” Lauren Biggs said. Biggs said her family will be making this a new tradition. “There’s nothing better than small town life getting to come and support our local communities and what they do with our festivals around,” Biggs explained. Mayor Jackson said they will begin planning for next year’s parade and festival on Monday.
