NASHVILLE — A bill allowing cannabis oil to treat certain medical conditions has been signed by Gov. Bill Haslam. According to the bill, which Haslam signed Monday, patients will be allowed to bring cannabis oil into Tennessee for treatment only if it is legally obtained outside of the state. Marijuana advocates say the new law is a step in the right direction but will only help a small amount of people who require marijuana for medical purposes. “This bill in particular is very limited in scope,” Nashville attorney and marijuana advocate Frederick Agee said. “It only applies to certain types of patients, specifically seizures.” We reached out to those who oppose the new law but received no response. The new bill will take effect immediately.
