DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Five women appeared Wednesday in Jackson City Court on prostitution charges after an undercover investigation involving a website. Jennifer Ashley, Stephanie McCann, Melissa Moyers, Laquanda Rivers and Meranda Walker face charges following a sting investigation targeting prostitution on the website www.backpage.com, according to court papers. Undercover investigators made arrangements Tuesday to meet the women by texting phone numbers provided on the website, the documents state. Ashley faces two drug possession charges after investigators allegedly found what Ashley said was methamphetamine along with hydrocodone pills. Moyers also faces a count of marijuana possession after telling investigators she had marijuana in the night stand in the hotel room, according to an affidavit. Ashley is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. Moyers is being held in lieu of a $15,000 bond. McCann, Rivers and Walker are being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond each. All five women also have been ordered to be tested for HIV.
