UPDATE: Victim may be charged with filing false report in Humboldt shooting

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Police have announced that a reported shooting that sent a man to the hospital Thursday was self-inflicted. The man had told police he was walking in the woods beside his home in the area of the Hillside Drive community when a man on a four-wheeler tried to rob him and then shot him. The man was transported with injuries that were not life-threatening. The police department announced Friday that further investigation revealed there was no attempted robbery and that the gunshot was self-inflicted. Charges are pending for filing a false report, according to police.
