DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A Jackson man appeared Tuesday in city court on accusations of beating his girlfriend and trashing their apartment. Daquan Bryant allegedly went May 17 to the Lincoln Circle apartment he and his girlfriend share before becoming angry and assaulting her, according to an affidavit. The woman told police Bryant punched her in the face and then threw her phone to the ground and broke it when she tried to call for help. He then allegedly continued punching her, knocking her to the ground, and then kicked her in the face at least twice until she was unconscious. She told officers she woke up the following day with bruises all over her body and with dried blood on her hair and the bathroom floor. The following day, before being arrested, the woman says she went back to the apartment to find Bryant had ransacked the residence and broken several items. When officers attempted to arrest Bryant in the apartment complex, he allegedly jerked away while being handcuffed and ran before being taken into custody nearby. Bryant is charged with aggravated domestic assault, domestic vandalism and evading arrest. His bond is set at $10,000.
