Firefighters have new tool to help safely put out fires

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.-Firefighters in Madison County are using proven technology to help them safely put out fires. The Madison County Fire Department has installed dash cameras on the chief and fire marshal’s vehicles. They unveiled some of the video on the department’s Facebook page, with a clip showing the moment firefighters leave the station to the time they arrive on scene of a kitchen fire in northeast Madison County. Firefighters told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they hope the new technology will help them better investigate fires. “Once a fire occurs, you know there’s no going back, so they’re very hard to piece together. So having that initial video footage from the very beginning is essential for our fire investigations,” said Fire Marshal Don Friddle of the Madison County Fire Department. Firefighters said they also hope others will see the video and understand how difficult it is to fight fires.
