PARKER’S CROSSROADS, Tenn. — A local West Tennessee business is picking up the pieces after a family owned restaurant went up in flames Thursday night. “I thought it was a joke, and then when I got here it was awful,” owner Patty Hart said. Firefighters responded to the fire at Patty’s Restaurant just after 10 p.m. Thursday. Hart says it did not take firefighters long to put out the flames. “You never know what kind of call you are going to get,” Hart said. “I mean, it was a tragedy.” Officials say the fire started in the back of Patty’s Restaurant in the barbecue pit area. The building sustained excessive smoke, fire and water damage. Patty’s Restaurant has only been open since January, and now more than 25 employees are out of a job. Hart says not having a place for her employees to work for a while is what hurts the most. “It was sad. They were all here,” Hart said. “They all came running, and we all had prayer and we were all together. I have the best crew, and they will all help me get it back going.” Officials say the fire is still under investigation. Hart says she will begin rebuilding the restaurant Monday.
