Man charged with showing police fake military ID

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in Jackson City Court Monday on a charge of providing an officer with a false military ID. Police pulled over Charles Byron Mays on May 24 on Stonebrook Place, according to an affidavit. When asked to provide identification, police say Mays gave the officer a military ID card with a federal aviation number and driver’s license number. The officer determined military ID cards do not contain this information, according to the affidavit. Mays is charged with criminal simulation.
