City council approves $800K in write-offs

JACKSON, Tenn. — The city council approved more than $800,000 in write-offs for unpaid fees and taxes at Tuesday’s meeting. City officials say 75 percent of the write-offs come from unpaid city court fees. As WBBJ has reported, the city says the write-offs amount to only 1.3 percent of the city’s annual budget, and even though they’re writing them off, it doesn’t mean the money can’t be collected.
