Two accused of vandalizing Gibson Co. church

RUTHERFORD, Tenn. — Two people are accused of vandalizing a Gibson County church. Anthony Eaves, 18, and a juvenile are charged the vandalism over $1,000. They are accused of throwing eggs and tomatoes at the Salem Methodist Church in Gibson County and keying the church van. Members estimate the damage could cost thousands of dollars, however they remain grateful. “We hate it, but it could’ve been so much worse,” said church member Glynn Landrum. “They could have done severe damage to the church, broke the windows out the church or anything like that, so we’re thankful that that’s all it was.” Church members said officers arrested the suspects within 24 hours. The exact cost of the damage cannot be determined until they meet with their insurance company.
