Dyersburg investigator indicted on felony ID theft charge

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. — An investigator with the Dyersburg Police Department has been indicted on a felony identity theft charge. Cara Elizabeth Johnson-Peckenpaugh was indicted Wednesday by the Obion County grand jury on the identity theft charge and a charge of theft under $500, according to court documents. Johnson-Peckenpaugh is accused of stealing money from a Union City couple’s bank account in February, documents state. She has been suspended without pay since her March 11 arrest, according to a release from the police department. “With the announcement of the grand jury‘s indictment today, we are reviewing actions available to the department with regard to Investigator Peckenpaugh’s employment,” Police Chief Steve Isbell states in the release from the department.
