Woman accused of trying to bring syringes into court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman went before a judge Thursday after allegedly trying to bring syringes and a spoon into city court Wednesday. Koren Mitchem was entering the courtroom when an officer searched her purse for weapons, according to an affidavit. Police say the search revealed a Crown Royal bag containing two syringes and a metal spoon, the document states. Mitchem told police the items were not hers but that she was holding them for someone else. Mitchem is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She is free on a $1,000 bond.
