Woman charged with car theft in Union City

UNION CITY, Tenn. — A woman faces multiple charges after police say they caught her driving a stolen car Wednesday. Susan Escobar is accused of driving a stolen 2011 Honda Insight, according to a report from the Union City Police Department. Police had been notified of the stolen vehicle by the Newbern and Trimble police departments, according to the report. When police approached Escobar, they say she smelled of intoxicants and admitting to drinking several beers. Officers found an open beer in the console of the vehicle, the report states. According to the report, Escobar also told officers she had used crack cocaine earlier and that there was a crack pipe in the car. Escobar is charged with theft, third offense DUI, driving on a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the reports.
