Milan Fire Dept. will no longer offer out-of-town service

MILAN, Tenn. — The Milan Fire Department soon will no longer offer out-of-town protection to rural residents. The rural subscription service will be discontinued June 30, the end of the fiscal year. Those with contracts will continue to have service until Aug. 1. Fire department officials say the Insurance Service Office no longer recognizes the department’s subscription-based services for protection outside city limits. The board of aldermen voted to stop the rural fire subscription service under the advisement of the planning commission, according to the department.
