Fort Campbell to get new garrison commander next week
FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) – Army officials say Col. David “Buck” Dellinger will relinquish his post as garrison commander of Fort Campbell to incoming commander Col. James R. Salome next week.
A ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. June 18 in front of the Garrison Headquarters. Dellinger has been garrison commander since 2012 and has been appointed to be 101st Airborne Division chief of staff.
Salome, a Clarksboro, New Jersey, native and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, comes to Fort Campbell from the Army Forces Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he was director for the FORSCOM Commander’s Initiatives Group.
The Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tennessee, reports Salome previously served with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell.
