Cleo Polk

Cleo Celeste Ervin Polk, age 85, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and
wife of the late Earnest W. “JR” Polk, Jr., departed this life Tuesday
afternoon, January 4, 2022 at her home.
Cleo was born June 29, 1936 in Covington, Tennessee, the daughter of the
late Henry Andrew Ervin and Gladys Ozella Vandiver Ervin. She was
employed at Baptist Healthcare in the surgical supply department for over
40 years before her retirement. Mrs. Polk was a longtime member of Ole
Enon Primitive Baptist Church and recently started attending New Life
Testimonies Church. She was known to many as the “community mom”
and helped anyone in need. She loved traveling, going to the mountains,
dancing and all types of music.
Mrs. Polk is survived by her daughter, Trudy Duvall of Somerville, TN; her
stepson, Randy Polk (Kathy) of Muscle Shoals, AL; three sisters, Angelo
Timbs of Millington, TN, Evelyn Luce (Gary) of Aurora, MO and Ceriese
Bearden of Millington, TN; three brothers, Percy Ervin of Millington, TN,
Hoby Ervin of Millington, TN and Johnny Ervin of Brighton, TN; five
grandchildren, Kerri Watkins, Sheila Garmon, Adam Polk, Lori Woods
(Daniel) and Sean Polk; and nine great-grandchildren, Zecharie Watkins,
Landon Watkins, Caleb Watkins, Aleena Watkins, Mickelle Hilliard,
Deshaun Garmon, Austin Polk, Elizabeth Woods and Hendrick Woods.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Polk will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 7,
2022 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. The officiating
ministers will be Pastor Ray Hoggard and Pastor Jim Douglas. Interment
will follow in the Asbury Cemetery near LaGrange, Tennessee. A visitation
for Mrs. Polk will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2022 at
the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Landon Watkins, Caleb
Watkins, Zecharie Watkins, Johnny Ervin, Gary Luce and Jason Atwell.
