Man arrested, bomb squad called to Knoxville gas station

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Knoxville police called in a bomb squad and arrested one man at a gas station after they found chemicals in his car.

Multiple news outlets report officers went to an Exxon station Wednesday evening after a call from the store clerk about a suspicious vehicle. Police say they spoke with 25-year-old Andre Ameere Oliver, who told them the vehicle wasn’t his. Officers later found the vehicle was registered to Oliver and there was an active warrant for his arrest.

Police became concerned because of various chemicals in the car and the bomb squad and hazmat teams were called out. No injuries were reported.

Oliver was charged with driving on a revoked license for DUI and possession of explosive components among other charges. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
