EAST JACKSON — Police search for three suspects accused of robbing an east Jackson convenience store Monday night. “It’s kind of scary because it’s so close to home,” Shelby Shaw, a neighbor, said. The Neighborhood Food Mart on Hale Street was closed Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after police say armed gunmen robbed the store. Officers said the robbery happened around 7 p.m. Monday. Investigators said three men armed with handguns took a cash drawer, a clerk‘s wallet and other items from the store. One of the employees told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the suspects got away with a cell phone and cigarettes. Police said one of the men had a T-shirt around his face and the other two wore towels. “I have an alarm and I have cameras, so we will make sure that the alarm is on and make sure that the cameras are rolling,” Gail Crabb, a neighbor, said. Police said no one was hurt during the robbery. Officers say they are looking for three black men. Investigators said two of the suspects stand about 6 feet tall and the other is about 5 feet 6 inches tall.
