DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in city court Monday on accusations of burglarizing a Jackson home. Roderick Williams is charged with theft of property over $500 in the Thursday incident, according to court papers. A woman reported her Melrose Street home had been burglarized and that more than $4,500 worth of property was missing, according to an affidavit. After a neighbor told her he had seen a maroon F-150 pickup truck backed up to her garage and a black male approaching the home, she identified Williams as the suspect based on past experiences with him, the document states. The woman provided an address where Williams could be staying, and police located him there along with an Apple MacBook, an iPad and a turtle necklace the woman had reported stolen, according to the affidavit. Police say the value of the recovered property is about $695. Williams is being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
