Crews recover drowning victim in Duck River
COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) – Maury County emergency workers have recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy who they believe drowned in the Duck River.
Multiple media outlets report that workers recovered the body of Martarius Clemons on Monday. Clemons accidentally fell in the river near the Blue Springs Swimming Hole on Saturday afternoon.
The Maury County Dive Team and some of the county’s Swift Water rescue personnel combed the river on Saturday and Sunday, searching for the missing teen.
Authorities say witnesses have given conflicting accounts of why Clemons was in the water. Some witnesses said he fell in, while other said he was using a rope swing.
Operations Chief Joey Norman of the Maury County Office of Emergency Management said rainy weather has left the area not favorable for swimming.
