Deputies make 2 additional arrests in classic car thefts

TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tipton County Sheriff’s Department has charged two additional suspects in the thefts of two classic vehicles from a garage in Tipton County. Investigators said Nathan Hooper asked Jason Staggs of Jackson and his girlfriend, Meghan Vannetter of Brownsville, to help steal vintage cars. Hooper then led Tipton and Chester County authorities to a stolen 1939 Chevrolet Business Coupe in Chester County. The vehicle was allegedly being dismantled to sell for scrap by Harold David Sanders, 50, of Pinson, according to the sheriff’s department. Staggs was arrested May 31 after fleeing from an attempted traffic stop and then running on foot until apprehended with assistance of a K-9 officer, according to the sheriff’s office. Staggs is being charged with DUI, aggravated assault, reckless driving, vandalism and possession of stolen property. Hooper and Vannetter face two counts of theft of property and burglary related to the thefts. Sanders is facing a theft of property over $10,000 charge in Chester County.
