4th of July Weekend events in Jackson & West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — Haven’t made your 4th of July plans yet?  Well according to the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Calendar, you’ll have plenty of activities to choose from over the holiday. 
 
Festivities in Jackson kick off July 3rd with the Jackson Generals at the Ballpark.  Fireworks are to follow the final night of the homestand with the Mobile BayBears (ARI) Diamondbacks.
 
The Riders and Rockabilly Rally and Blues Hog BBQ and Music Fest will be held at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park July 3-5.  The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition will feature professional and the amateur Backyard BBQ competitors as well as a People’s Choice Awards category. 
 
Riders and Rockabilly attendees  will experience a variety of musical genres over the 3 days.  Friday, July 3 the music begins at 12:00 pmSaturday, July 4 at 2:00 pm and Sunday July 5 at 3:00 pm.  Motorcycle Dice Runs, Parkway Christian Auto Club Classic Car Show, Sports Orthopedics and Spine 5k Run as well as food and merchandise vendors will coinside during the festival.  Visit www.RidersandRockabilly.com for more information.
 
On the 4th, pack a picnic and grab your lawn chair to take part in the Firefighters Freedom Festival at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport organized by the Madison County Fire Department.   The FREE Festival will begin with a 5K and a Buddy run/Walk with a Firefighter at 8:00 am and conclude with Fireworks.  Children’s activities, displays from local area emergency services and the 2nd Marine Re-enactors, and concessions will be available. 
 
A patriotic themed program will begin at 5:00 pm with local bands, then American Firehouse Tour, featuring Worthy Duncan & Paul Cummings, taking the stage at 8:00 pm.  The entire event is funded by donations from local supporting businesses and STAR Sponsors Ashley Furniture, Sierra of Jackson, First South Bank, Best One Tire, Cashmaster, Hiller, Woodmen Life, Star 107.7 and West Tennessee Healthcare.  Visit Madison County Fire Rescue on Facebook for more information.
