Jackson police investigate 3 overnight robberies

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police confirm they are investigating three armed robberies that happened late Sunday night. Officers said the robberies all happened within two hours of each other. “People are targeting just about anything,” Charles Marshall, of Jackson, said. Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday police said a man with a gun robbed a hotel off International Cove and got away with cash. Police said the suspect is a black man who wore a gray T-shirt. “Sometimes people get desperate and pull off these kinds of acts,” Marshall said. Officers said two black men robbed a pizza delivery driver around 10:10 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Old Humboldt Road. The Domino‘s driver said someone flagged him down and he stopped because he thought the person wanted to order a pizza. The driver said another person came up and that‘s when the robbery happened. Police said the delivery guy was hit in the head with a gun several times but did not receive medical treatment for injuries. The employee declined to talk on camera because he said he has not told his family what happened yet. “It’s hitting close to home,” Lindsey Johnson, a parent, said. “I have two kids, and what if they were here and they were in the middle of one of the robberies?” Police said the third robbery happened in the 800 block of Whitehall Street sometime between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and midnight. Investigators said three black men approached the victim and stole a stereo system, cash and a cell phone. Officers said the suspects shot at the victim three times as the victim tried to get away. Officers said the person was not hurt. “You have to be selective where you go after dark because you could be a target yourself,” Marshall said.
