Camp Discovery teaches life lessons

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Even though students are on summer break, some children in Humboldt did not take a break from learning. They have been learning life lessons that may help them be better students in the classroom. On Wednesday, students were able to show off what they have learned at Camp Discovery. Fifteen participants performed drill skills for their parents. Camp leaders said the program is meant to teach the kids about team building, how to deal with bullying and nutrition. “When they get out into the community, they go to high school and to college, they need to know how to interact with different cultures, different children and then just to be their best self wherever they are,” said Barbara Borner with the Humboldt Housing Authority. This is the tenth year for the event presented by the Humboldt Housing Authority.
