Kids get free back-to-school haircuts in annual event

JACKSON, Tenn. — To help with the expenses that come with back-to-school season, a local official is hosting a free haircut and hairstyle event. City Councilman Ernest Brooks II is hosting the fifth annual “Cuts and Stylze” program, which offers free haircuts for boys and hairstyles for girls, according to a release from the city. “I want our youth to look good on the outside, feel good on the inside, ready to strive for academic excellence,” Councilman Brooks states in the release. Due to demand, the program is taking place at two locations this year. It will take place at the Barber School, located at 77 Carriage House Drive, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Hair Design School, located at 1433 Hollywood Drive, also is participating from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. No appointments are necessary, the release states. Additionally, the Appeal Beauty Salon and In His Image Barber Shop will be providing haircuts and styles at selected city agencies that support our youth, according to the release.
