2 women arrested after fight at Union City apartment

UNION CITY, Tenn. — Two women are facing assault charges after an alleged fight involving a kitchen knife. Shanicka Wilkes and Tomisha Smith both were charged after officers responded Sunday to a reported fight at a Nash Street apartment. Smith allegedly confronted Wilkes about wasting her electricity by leaving a TV on, according to a report from the Union City Police Department. Smith reportedly told Wilkes to leave and then threw Wilkes’ belongings outside, the report states. Smith had a knife, which Wilkes knocked out of her hand, according to the report. The two then reportedly fought until Wilkes was able to leave the apartment. Police say Smith told them Wilkes had hit her four or five times. The kitchen knife was taken as evidence.
