Man accused of ‘stolen valor’ gets max sentence in attempted murder

HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A man accused of lying about his military history during his attempted murder trial was sentenced Wednesday for attempted second-degree murder. A judge sentenced Guy Biggs to the maximum 12 years, according to the sheriff’s office. Biggs was tried in March for attempted first-degree murder. Officials said after being convicted of a lesser charge of attempted second-degree murder, it was determined Biggs’ testimony about his military credentials was false. Biggs also filed a falsified military document to support his testimony, according to the sheriff’s office. He also faces charges of fabricating evidence and aggravated perjury and is set to be arraigned on those charges Thursday in Henry County General Sessions Court.
