HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A group of veterans got to relive some memories at the Veterans home in Gibson County on Friday during National Purple Heart Day. A ceremony at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt took time to honor residents by re-awarding them with Purple Hearts. Organizers say the event helped the former members of the armed services relive the award experience and again feel appreciated for their sacrifice and service. “They put their life on the line for all of us to have our freedoms that we have, so they’re very special to us,” said Greg Turnbo, administrator of the Humboldt Veterans Home. The Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt has 140 beds.
