JACKSON, Tenn. — The county commission approved on Monday $2,000 for the Jackson Downtown Development Corporation. The nonprofit group originally missed the application deadline for nonprofits to be considered for funds from the county. The group’s director says being able to still get approved for money from the county is a vote of confidence in the work they do. “The psychological buy-in is also very important,” said Matt Altobell, executive director of the JDDC. “What we’re doing is very important to the psychology of the community with Jackson being the hub of West Tennessee, downtown being the hub of Madison County and Jackson. Everything we’re trying to do falls right in line.” The vote to approve the funds was not unanimous. There were three commissioners who voted against providing the money to the organization.
