Murray State player indicted again

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) – A Murray State basketball player who withdrew his guilty plea to hitting a couple with his car in the parking lot of a Walmart has been indicted again. The Paducah Sun reports the indictment handed down Thursday charges 20-year-old Zaveral “Zay” Jackson with one count of second-degree assault and one count of wanton endangerment. Originally, Jackson was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, but entered a guilty plea to lesser charges of first-degree wanton endangerment in exchange for a sentence that included 30 days in jail and a diversion program. However, the original judge stepped down and a new judge rejected proposed sentence as too lenient, so Jackson withdrew his plea in November and the case was sent back to the grand jury.
