Love Week kicks off in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — SoulQuest Church is hosting Love Week, a week where they are partnering with other organizations to better Jackson. The church is working with The Star Center, RIFA, Habitat for Humanity and Area Relief Ministries to help in soup kitchens, after-school care, painting and community cleanup in neighborhoods across the Hub City. “We come here and tell people they are loved by Jesus every day. We try to show it in the way we live our life, and we just want to reach out and be more intentional with it,” SoulQuest Operations Pastor Austin Coleman said. “Love Week is where we just want to get into the community of Jackson and show the community of Jackson that we love the community of Jackson, and so we partner with organizations that are already doing a really good job in our community because we don’t want to re-invent the wheel.” Love Week is sponsored by local companies including the Jackson Walk Apartments and L&T Cakery. “I really think love week is a great opportunity to reach out to the community to show that we are a good church organization and we are here to help everyone,” L&T Cakery Owner Lori Walker said. One of the main goals of Love Week is to show that SoulQuest doesn’t just care about their church but also the community they live in. “We want to give the people of SoulQuest the opportunity to get out of this building, get out of their current neighborhood, and to go serve other people in Jackson,” Coleman said. “We’re actually letting this be open to the public. We don’t want this to be just a SoulQuest thing. We’re really asking our people to lead the charge, but we want people in Jackson to be involved as well.” The week will end on Friday night with a block party at the AMP in downtown Jackson. The block party will be benefiting RIFA with stations to donate to the organization. The block party is free and open to the public.
