Annual golf tourney honors women of business

JACKSON, Tenn. — Golfers hit the greens Tuesday at the fifth annual Follow Me Celebrity Gold Tournament to recognize 12 outstanding women in business. The event, presented by the Jackson-Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce, took place at Bent Tree Golf Course on Paul Coffman Drive. Golf tournament chairs Jim Ferrell, Ted Austin, Chester Sharp and celebrity co-chair Coach Derrick Burroughs, athletic director and head football coach at Lane College, were on site to recognize the honorees. The 12 honorees for the Awards Ceremony were Jeannie D. Bond, first vice president, BancorpSouth; Dr. Pamela Bowers, psychologist, Jackson-Madison County School System; Angela Calhoun, team member relations specialist, Toyota Bodine Alumninum; Lynn B. Henning, director of personnel, City of Jackson; Lynne Henning, vice president, Investments, Raymond James; Dr. Clara Hewitt, recently retired director, TRIO program, Academic Affairs, Lane College; Beth James, executive director, Jackson Center of Independent Living; Alissa Nance, branch manager, Morgan Stanley; Dr. Lisa Piercey, vice president, Physician Services, West Tennessee Healthcare; Mandy White, senior vice president, Economic Development, Jackson Area Chamber; Swee Har Wilcox, plant manager, Armstrong World Industries; and Mechele Williams, vice president and chief financial officer, the Tennergy Corporation.
