Friends come together to honor victim of crash

LEXINGTON, Tenn.-A community is coming together after three of their own were killed in a crash on Wednesday. A family friend said one of the victim’s family was struggling to pay for funeral costs, so several groups of people decided to do what they could to honor the victim.
Family friend Ronnie Dyer said he has known Neil Burcham since Burcham was a kid and the news of the fatal crash on Wednesday that took his life, along with two others broke his heart. “West Tennessee, they come together. I just wanted to see Neil like (Burcham’s mother) wanted it, him to be laid to rest peacefully they way his mom wanted it,” said Dyer. Dyer said when he found out about the family’s predicament, he wanted to do everything he could to bring the family peace. I found out (Thursday) that they didn’t have any life insurance to bury Neil and so I got on the phone, calling everybody I knew. In just more than 24 hours, enough funds were sent in to the funeral home to cover funeral costs. “If you ask people here in Henderson County other counties for help hey they don’t turn their back on you,” said Dyer. Friends of Burcham said he was loved by everybody. “He was a character. If you weren’t feeling good or something he would find some way to try and raise your spirits, ” said family friend Jessica Box. Box said Burcham was a childhood friend and she is grateful the money was raised so quickly. “It’s a real bad loss, but I’m glad, you know that we can finally, you know put him to rest for his momma’s sake,” said Box. According to Pafford’s Funeral Home in Lexington, services for Neil Burcham will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
