Fallen Hardin Co. firefighter to be honored at national service

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Two firefighters from Tennessee will be honored in Maryland by the National Fire Academy at the 34th annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. Gus Losleben, 69, of the Hardin County Fire Department will be among the fallen firefighters from across the country honored at the national service Oct. 4 at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, according to a release. Losleben died from injuries sustained in a Dec. 9, 2014, crash with a logging truck while responding to a structure fire. Also from Tennessee, Forestry Aide Jerry Campbell, 61, with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry, collapsed and died March 1, 2014, after preparing to respond to a wildfire the previous day. Losleben and Campbell are among the 84 firefighters who died in 2014 and three firefighters who died in previous years who will be remembered at the national service, according to the release.
