A spokesperson would only confirm he was found in his cell unresponsive around 6:45 a.m., Wednesday. The medical staff treated him until the arrival of emergency medical responders, but they were unable to revive him. Sources tell WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News, the prisoner was stabbed to death and gang activity is suspected. During a lockdown, inmates are unable to leave their individual cells. The Tennessee Department of Correction’s Internal Affairs is investigating. The 2, 016-bed facility is operated by CCA but under contract with the state.
