Crossville man indicted in killing of girlfriend
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Cumberland County grand jury has indicted a 61-year-old man in the killing of his girlfriend. According to The Knoxville News Sentinel the first-degree murder indictment was returned Wednesday against John Giles Jr. of Crossville. He is charged in the Nov. 7 death of 58-year-old Kimberly Ann Batty, who authorities found fatally strangled and beaten in her Fairfield Glade home Sheriff’s Investigator Casey Cox said Giles made the call to E-911 on the night of the homicide. Giles was arrested at his home after the indictment was returned and booked into the Cumberland County Justice Center in lieu of $2 million bond.
