Cable Barriers Coming To KY Interstates
Road workers will be installing cable barriers on stretches of Interstates 65 and 64 next month.
The cable barriers will begin going up July 7 along an 8-mile stretch I-64 in Franklin and Woodford Counties. Construction will begin about two weeks later on cable barriers on a nearly six-mile stretch of I-65 in Bullitt County.
Kentucky transportation officials say in a statement that lane closures will be possible Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. each evening until 7 a.m. the following morning.
The high-tension cables offer protection from median crossings and are effective at preventing fatalities. Crowley Company of Minneapolis, Minn., was awarded the $1.5 million contract for the project. It is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15.
