Kids Make Their Mark at New Boys and Girls Club

Leaders at the soon-to-open Boys and Girls Club of Humboldt let children really make their mark on the program, Tuesday. The kids were given the chance to put their hand prints on the wall of the building donated to the club by a local church. Organizers say the community has really come together to serve the young people of the community after funding for the popular “Weed and Seed Program” ended. “Weed and Seed” has provided after school and summer activities for children for years. “It takes everybody,” said Ralph Jones, President of the Humboldt Boys and Girls Club. “These are our children. They’re not somebody else’s children.” Jones went on to say, “They deserve a good place and a safe place to learn to be a better citizen.” The Boys and Girls Club of Humboldt is scheduled to open when school begins in August.
