A different kind of block party took place in west Jackson around lunchtime, Friday. Members of the Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of Farmington, Missouri. teamed up with the Regional Interfaith Association for the two-hour event as an end to summer camp. The effort was designed to reach out to children and families in the LANA area. Those attending the interactive festival had an opportunity to enjoy music, take part in family-friendly activities and enjoy some food, all free of charge. The kids love the summer camp program. They show up everyday. Some come like an hour early for camp, just because they love to hang out and have something to do,” said Chase Techentin, a RIFA Worker. It is really good way for the kids to stay out of trouble all summer and to stay interested and for their parents to get them off their plate for a little while when they are not in school.” About 50 kids took part in the camp designed to bring the community together.
