Missing Henderson County Man’s Body Found
Henderson County deputies said the body of a man who went missing early Saturday morning was found deep in the woods Monday afternoon. Battling the sweltering heat, investigators and rescue personnel waited for help to bring the body out from a heavily wooded area near Feather Ridge Rd. “This was the last place that we knew of that the person we were looking for had been seen,” said Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke. Duke said the body was found nearly a mile into the woods. “We have a lot of questions and not a lot of answers at this point,” he said. Investigators are staying tight lipped about who they believe the man is but after more than 48 hours in the elements, Duke said he wants to be sure, “his identity has not been 100 percent confirmed.” However, area residents said they know who the man is. They said he was at a mobile home late Friday, which is just yards away from where law enforcement set up their search command center. According to neighbors, the man who lives in the home has a history of drug related confrontations and some believe that is what led to the man’s disappearance and possible murder. Deputies did not state whether they believe foul play is involved but one thing is certain. “We are investigating now under very suspicious circumstances,” Duke said. Investigators will wait to release the identity of the man until an autopsy is conducted, according to Duke.
