Obion County Fire Subscription Deadline Looms

This video is no longer available.

Obion County property owners take note: you have until August 1st to subscribe to rural fire protection. The $75 fee will go to your nearest city fire department to cover the cost of response if your property catches fire. The controversial measure was created by commissioners for the entire county about eight months ago. County Mayor Benny McGuire says the service has been met with a good response. The fee can be paid at the county courthouse in the clerk’s office. County leaders caution if a property owner does not pay the fee, firefighters can refuse to respond to the emergency call.
