Knox County flips switch on Festival of Lights
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Knox County is kicking off its annual Festival of Lights with the flip of a switch. Knox County Commission Chairman Tony Norman will turn on the lights on Friday afternoon at The Cove at Concord Park and start the festival that runs each night through the end of the year, excluding Christmas Day. The lighting display, which is put on by park staff, includes hundreds of thousands of lights. Santa Claus will be greeting visitors during the weekend before Christmas, and vendors will be serving pizza, kettle corn, hot chocolate and ingredients for s’mores. Pets are welcome.
